@groundswell_agriculture 2022 was spectacular in so many ways!
We saw a lot more people representing the different parts of our food system attending this year wanting to learn more about agroecology.
There were farmers and food and drink producers, policy makers, activists, writers, large retailers and restaurant groups, small and indie retailers and restaurants, chefs, and more, from all over the country and abroad, bringing their knowledge, interests and agendas.
There were topics from managing veteran trees to creating microbial rich compost, from working with grain millers to fibre dyers and millers, from designing sourcing principles to managing the whole supply chain, from measuring soil carbon to farm biodiversity, from creating highly nutritious cheese and bread to engaging narratives, and heaps more!
There is a sense that we will see narrative change. Food is life and farming is the backbone of practically every society. Yet farming has been neglected by policy makers, businesses and even the public in so many ways over the past decades.
Our collective hope is that people will find their voice and define agroecology together with the farming communities. Changing our food system for the better has to happen from the ground up and all the way to what you choose to buy and consume three meals a day.
Thank you to the Cherry family and EVERYONE who shared your expertise and experience so generously!
I am regenerated and humbled. A lot more to learn from each and everyone of you.
