the CEREMONY and RECEPTION
for the ceremony - we had a specific vision of wanting to celebrate both Kevin’s Persian and my Filipino heritage. The wedding ceremony was such a beautiful way to do both and was absolutely a dream come true!
For the Persian elements, we included the sofreh agdh, sugar ceremony, and honey exchange. Kevin’s mom spent months collecting and curating the perfect sofreh 💕 and carefully shipping them all to Hawaii! Our planners and officiant also took so much time to make sure this was all executed carefully, respectfully, and even included information in our wedding programs for our guests to follow along. And of course we included the Persian knife dance as part of the cake cutting!!
For the Filipino elements, I had my godmothers participate as veil and cord sponsors - and the veil we used belonged to my late grandmother and has been used in weddings of multiple family members, including my mom! I also asked my family members to wear Filipiniana attire — see my dad wearing his barong tagalog ❤️ and we had halo-halo during cocktail hour 😋
