Meet the Dynamic Arts Educators of Brooklyn Arts Council's AIE team! The AIE team selected puppets or stuffed animals that inspired a playful and creative approach to their work as administrators. The different administrators have backgrounds in visual arts, sculpture, and theater. For over 25 years, Brooklyn Arts Council has provided programs that connect artists with schools, senior centers and other community organizations. Our Arts in Education programs include CASA (Cultural After-School Adventures), SU-CASA (creative aging in NYC), Global Rhythms (international music and dance residencies), among others. Recently we welcomed 3 new staffers to this respected department. In July, we were joined by Taeesha Muhammad as Advocacy and Outreach Assistant and Allie Marotta as Manager for Schools & Media. M’kina Tapscott started in August as our Manager for Community & Equity. With Emmy Weissman, our AIE Administrative Assistant, and Phil Alexander, AIE Director, we now have an unprecedented 5 program administrators. “I’m excited and proud of the creative and talented professionals we’ve recruited. They bring a wealth of experience in the field of arts education so I’m confident we’ll be able to improve and grow the impact of our arts education programs!” says Alexander. Brooklyn Arts Council celebrates Arts in Education Week , September 11 – 17.
