I had to look out this picture to show and tell.. This was taken in 2011 when the queen was 85 years old. She handed out OBE’s and MBE’s to a big room full of wonderful people who’d all done amazing things, standing for the entirety of the event.. shaking hands and interacting with each recipient in the most personable way. It was hot - people were fanning themselves with their programmes, and feeling tired, despite the fact that they were sitting down. I have NO idea how the queen kept going..but she handled it all with grace and good humour. I suspect that very few people appreciate the rigours of leading the life of a monarch. but she did it with aplomb! ( short disclaimer - I had no idea that the queen had passed away when I sent my previous post yesterday. )
