The Madonna and Child has been a much-explored religious theme throughout art history. Jean-Michel added his own interpretation in 1985, titled “Madonna”, shown as the first image here. The piece also pays homage to Charlie Parker’s three-year-old daughter named Pree, who passed away in 1954. With this piece, Jean-Michel joins the pantheon of artists who have paid tribute to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the infant Jesus, which include the likes of Sandro Botticelli, Albrecht Durer, El Greco, William-Adolphe Bouguereau, and Salvador Dali.
