When you get to the dinner table at one of our events, there is always someone there to stop you from sitting down right away. If you already hiked uphill or trekked through tomato plants to get there, we know it can be a bit tantalizing to see the line of servers waiting to pour wine, the welcome course beckoning from the center of each table. But, that last little wait is important, because it means we all sit down to dinner together. It can be chaotic to find seats with the rest of your party while other guests rush to the table. But there is always someone there to help, and it is part of the spirit of a farm dinner that no one needs to reserve seats in advance or plan ahead — there is a magic to who sits next to whom, where at the table everyone ends up. You never know what conversations may start or what connections you’ll make with the person across from you. Breaking bread together brings us closer, and those connections make a few minutes of chaos more than worth it. Next time you approach the table go ahead and scope out your favorite spot, but stay open to the possibilities of an unexpected seat at the other end.
