I shot these for @liiillillliilil who made this vessel. It’s delicate and shapely and tough; and I tried to photograph it like a nude figure. One of my favorite vendors at the market calls this flower, “Brambling Rose,” though I googled it and it’s “Rambling Rose.” I’ve yet to settle on which I like more. This type of rose is so thorny you have to wear leather gloves when handling it. Their thorns cover every surface of the stem, from broken earth to bud and the leaves are leather soft but have sawtoothed edges. The blossom is exquisite yet quick to fade. Many of the front gardens on my block contain at least one rose bush. There are so many blooming, the air is sweet with the scent. Roses like these, instead of the straight stemmed ones you get from traditional florists, are my favorites. A gorgeous example of the wildness of flowers. Thank you, Lisa, for this gift.
