Melissa Guízar Godoy was chosen to stand before government officials in Michoacán, to address the issue of femicides in México, during the 2022 Children's Parliament. ⁠ ⁠ During her speech, she calls out the president, legislators, and public prosecutors to take serious action when addressing femicides.⁠ ⁠ ⁠ Translation: "I have a difficult time understanding how these individuals can commit horrendous atrocities, as they please. ⁠ I am ten years old. I want to play, run, dance, sing, study, have fun, have my own family, and to work. I have so many goals and dreams to achieve. I do not want to disappear. I do not want people to march for me. I do not want to be another name on a wall. I know that my mother will never stop looking for me, like Maricela Escobedo, who looked for her daughter day and night, only to be mocked by government officials, and later murdered.
