The word “wedding” can look and feel like many different things across the world- all equally beautiful and unique. ☀️The Gaye holud (pronounced guy hoolud) translates to body yellow (turmeric) It is an important pre #SouthAsian #weddingtradition at #Bengali weddings. It’s a fun joyous celebration where guests shower the #bride and groom with sweets and wedding day gifts. For the holud ceremony, fresh tumeric is made into a paste with some water or milk and applied to the couple’s face, arms and feet.
