Nutrition saved my skin... and my confidence. (See previous post for part 1) Here are the three biggest tips I can share for anyone who is ready to use food as medicine to get clear, hydrated, glowing skin: 🦠 Understanding the connection between my microbiome and everything else in my body. It’s all connected. By feeding my gut bacteria more of the foods they wanted, along with taking a top-of-the-line probiotic, I helped not only my skin, but my mood and general outlook improved as well (more on this soon). 💧 Eating my water. Water-rich foods like cucumbers, leafy greens, berries, and melons were critical for hydrating my skin AND my digestive system at a cellular level. Your digestive system needs water to function properly! Dehydration has full-body implications and only drinking your water isn’t enough to give your body what it needs. 🥬🌈 Eating the rainbow (but especially greens)! If you’re not a fan of eating your greens, I have bad news. Eating 6-8 cups of greens daily provided both the hydration and nutrients that my cells desperately needed to detox (a process they do daily), and the results were visible on my skin. Focusing on getting nutrient diversity through a plant-rich diet allowed my good gut bacteria to thrive and strengthen my immune system. Inflamed cysts started to calm down and disappear, and new spots became less and less frequent. Got any questions about nutrition and skin health? Ask below! 👇
