RED HERON // A red herring is a literary term reserved for “something that distracts attention away from the real issue.” In other words, a red herring is something that happens in a story that ends up having little to no relevance throughout the rest of the story. ‘Red Heron’ helped me to visualize this idea - how can I explain to someone that seeing this majestic bird in the span of a moment could hold so much significance in my life + personal narrative. Something that’s gone completely unnoticed by one person could be life changing for another.
