What a trip 🍄🍄🍄 About the Glow-Up: When I got the prompt for this runway I was stumped! I knew I wanted to tap into the same fantasy realm that my s11 Jellyfish came from, but that look is so special to me that I didn’t want to “redo” it. Lucky for me I had just gone on a retreat with my cult of friends where most of us did some pretty serious soul-searching and healing psyche-work while trapped in a cabin together as friends do. So when @finnjames666 suggested I do a fungi runway I saw the perfect golden (teacher) opportunity! Not only could I invoke the regal spirituality my grandma @jahsasamut carries, but I could also pay homage to the magic of “magic mushrooms”! The way psilocybin affects the brain scrambles your sense of self, and in that great ego death I’ve found the space to work through a lot of my own anxiety and trauma to rediscover the truth: I am/you are/we are all reflections of the same light. We’re all born from it and we all will return to it in the end. 🌟☀️🌌 To pull off a concept as vague and ambitious as “elegant light up lavender mushrooms” I knew there was only one person I could turn to. So I hit up the incredibly creative @ksiedowthompson (who made my final lip sync gown for s11) and when she gave me her sketch my jaw dropped. I wish I could even begin to tell you how she @sewberus & @athel_artistry made this gown, but the science is too magical for me to comprehend. For the hair I strung fairy lights through some extra mushrooms Kristi made, and weaved them into this gorgeous loc-ed beehive from @itsshiksa. Finally I finished this look with these gorgeous beetle earrings a queen made me a few years back (who are you???) and a mug FOR THE AGES!
