MONTANA. My home. The place that shaped me and raised me. About a hundred different feelings wash over me when i think of this place - a mixture of love, warmth, loss, serenity, and chaos all at once. My relationship with this place has changed over time, since my world has opened up and I’ve lived, traveled and learned so much from other places. But coming back here always grounds me. Reminds me where i come from, what matters most, and points me in a new direction as i leave. It’s a complicated relationship. I can feel the stares at my bald head a little deeper here, and i don’t feel like i fit in much anymore. But maybe that makes it even more important to be here. Maybe it’s helpful to share my story here, as here is where it began so many years ago. Mom turned 60. We found a place to get married next year. I hugged people i haven’t seen in far too long.
