We’re a bit beyond your birthday (Nov. 3) but you know I’m late to everything. So here’s to Mom: My mother is the strongest, most graceful woman I know. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in late June, her first words when she picked me up from the airport to move back home were, “I don’t want any drama.” She even drove herself to her own surgery to remove the tumor (which was a successful surgery!). There were several weeks this summer where Mom and I didn’t stop holding hands and encouraging each other through laughter and tears. This was the toughest point of our lives, yet I am the most grateful for the time we spent. Taking care of a parent isn’t anything I ever expected to do so soon, because my whole family feels so young. But I think we were able to be so strong because of how strong everyone was around us. Our friends.. so many friends, who sent flowers or food or made hospital life more comfortable or just let me take time off from work/leave new york to be present during this healing process may never know how much this meant to us. So .. yea I think social media is a disease and I don’t like to post sentimental shit, but I think I’m trying to say that — Coming from a big family and small town, family and community are the most important parts of life to me, and there are people on here I wanna say thank you to for loving me and my family and giving us time to heal and be apart of this process. I love you so much Mom. And thank you to everyone who helped us get here. It takes a village. So cheers to my mom. I love you so much. Happy birthday 🤍 Ps DAD (re: second video w/sound) I showed up for the surprise party which counts for something but still obsessed with the birthday video of you guys being first year empty nesters!!! x
