A fierce abolitionist and female rights activist, Lucretia Mott founded the Philadelphia Female Anti-Slavery Society in 1833. Five years later, she hosted the second Anti-Slavery Convention of American Women, bringing together Black and white female abolitionists.
17,000 protestors threatened them and attempted to burn down Mott’s house. But Mott would not be silenced, and continued to strive to protect both abolition and women's rights.
She launched a Women’s Rights Convention with Elizabeth Cady Stanton in 1848 and co-wrote the Declaration of Sentiments, proclaiming that, “all men and women are created equal.”
