Felt like this needed to exist for many reasons. Once the idea was first complete back in late February, unfortunately it was too late to release for Black History Month. But you have to admit, today couldn’t be more fitting. In honor of Juneteenth, this piece celebrates uncommon knowledge through irony, wit, and startling truth. It would be extremely challenging to get through our daily lives without utilizing the numerous ideas of African Americans. The lengthy list of African American inventions rarely come up in conversation, but that’s ok. We’ll catch you up to speed... From the ironing board, the doorknob, the hand mixer, the folding chair, the mop, the hairbrush, the mailbox, the lunchbox, the first patented home security system, the ice cream scoop, the fire extinguisher, the lawn sprinkler, the lock, both heating and air conditioning systems, all the way to the clothes dryer and more; guess it’s safe to say African Americans invented every damn thing in your HOME.
