ART & RESIDENCE Actualizing a vision from thought to reality is an exciting and often challenging endeavor. In 2009, I visited my ancestral home, #Liberia, for the first time in 13 years. Five years prior, my parents accomplished building a five story building in the heart of Monrovia. I was so impressed by what they were able to do less than a decade after being robbed of most of their wealth due to active conflict in our country. When I returned to Liberia in 2012, I was excited to put my new Journalism degree (with a focus on Public Relations) to use and live on that top floor. Family politics, Ebola and my own lack of maturity led to a winding road that is just now approaching my destination, penthouse living 🙏🏾 If you are manifesting anything great and feeling the weight of that, please don’t give up! What I have learned in this undertaking is that sustainability starts at the root. In 2016, Creative Afrik came to life on the ground floor of @providentliberia ✨Who knew my love of the arts would spill over into so many disciplines? Visual art, music, publishing, fashion & interior design; all come to life in our intimate art space that was mostly unused before and I love that for us. The pursuit of this dream has pulled me out of my comfort zone & into several industries. While working a corporate mining job outside of Liberia’s capital city in 2018, I released the idea of living in the PH. I was heartbroken. I did, however, start investing in the ground floor by building an outdoor kitchen that enabled us to design an alluring garden that would improve my whole family’s way of living. Being humble enough to start at ground level, pouring into #ProvidentGallery makes the view from #PHonPayne even sweeter.
