Riding a wave is something that brings together a lot of different feelings at the same time. The excitement of seeing that you have a wave behind you that's definitely yours is like a swell of happiness. And then the actual feeling of like dropping in and getting into it is just such a smooth flow. It's almost like gliding over snow. That's the feeling I want people to feel when I bring them out on the water to surf for the first time. Leave the stigma that surfing is just a white person sport or the fear of the ocean aside, to me the water is our friend. It's a place to feel free, somewhere you can feel like a kid again. In “Reclaim Your Water”, I’m able to share my love of the water through teaching black people how to surf and creating a community with Ebony Beach Club...showing people that we have a place here too. Its important not to limit yourself out here, I hope sharing my love of the water inspires other people to join in too.
