Since the Supreme Court stripped away reproductive rights for millions of Americans in June, NYAAF’s out-of-state caseload has doubled, with now nearly half of its hundreds of clients each month coming from outside New York. And too many of our fellow New Yorkers continue to fall through the cracks. Despite living in a state where abortion is legal, many barriers persist for our neighbors — from a prohibitive out-of-pocket cost, to insurance restrictions, to Medicaid barriers, to unique obstacles for people who are young, undocumented, survivors of domestic violence, or impacted by the city's affordable housing and overpolicing crises.
