I really love Chicago and I have to say that architecturally, it’s my new favorite city anywhere. While I was there to make work and round out another project, I visited 3 houses built by Frank Lloyd Wright. This is his first home and studio built in 1889 where he lived for only 10 years before leaving due to an affair with a married neighbor. His design philosophy of organic architecture was evident throughout, as were his influences of Japanese art, music, nature and sacred geometry. Being in this space was really inspiring— my favorite room was probably the drafting room because it’s hard to imagine another more influential design space that exists in America.
