Should we have travelled together after not knowing each other long? 😅
This was our first trip together. To be honest kind of insane on my part to be like yea let’s go to another continent with a guy I just met online a couple months ago. But alas.
I get this question a lot though: Should you travel when you’re in a new relationship? When?
I would say YES. Hear me out. I think it’s a super important experience to have, especially if travel is something you are passionate about and see a lot of in your future. It’s at least a conversation you should have early on.
Think about it: what if you can’t stand their way of travelling? Or you have different ways of dealing with things that go wrong (which they often do on trips)?
My bf and I went into this being very honest with ourselves that while we were in excited to take this step there was a possibility that we might not have compatible travel styles or wouldn’t get along when things got stressful.
And that was okay with us if it happened and we agreed if that was the case, we at least got to see a cool place with a cool person, and we would part ways amicably.
Now that said, this is because travel is a big part of both our lives. If it’s not a big part of yours, then this might not be a deal breaker and instead something to work at.
All in all, I am very glad we did this, because it strengthened our relationship and allowed us to get to know each other on a deeper level.
Do you agree? When would you say it’s okay to start travelling with a new partner?? ✈️☀️🌊
