Saturday Night Fever” “Bad Girls” by Donna Summer 🪩 It was the 2nd single from Donna’s 7th studio album “Bad Girls”, produced by the masters Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, and co-written by Summer and the members of Disco / R&B group Brooklyn Dreams. The inspiration came after one of her assistants was offended by a police officer who thought she was a street prostitute. A rough version of the song was written a couple of years before its release and Casablanca Records' founder Neil Bogart wanted Donna to give it to Cher for her upcoming album. Summer refused and put it away for a couple of years. After the release it was nominated and won the award for "Favorite Pop/Rock Single" and "Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist" at the American Music Awards and was also nominated for the first and only Best Disco Recording at the 1980 Grammy Awards (losing to Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”). It sold 2 million copies and spent 5 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, plus Top 10 in Belgium, Canada, Finland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland and West Germany. This performance is from the 1980 ABC-TV "Donna Summer Special". Toot toot, beep beep. #DonnaSummer
