I have loved telling Simran’s story, one that many American immigrants and their children have been able to recognize. It’s the balancing act of honoring family, their sacrifice and values, while forging a new path of your own. It’s the pressure of having to be “twice as good” and the reality of getting “half as far” as a minority. It’s learning that despite all of those pressures, sometimes you need to throw the rule book out the window and follow your heart.
