real life story: when I was in elementary school in Thailand, I said out loud that I wanted to be the Little Mermaid for Halloween and several kids said I couldn’t coz I’m “too dark.” so you can imagine how moved I am that little Black and brown kids are excited for the new Ariel. 🧜🏾‍♀️🧜🏾‍♀️🧜🏿‍♀️ These underminings & jabs rooted in [internalized] racism shape you for life y’all. all to say, these retrograde planets have my little Pisces heart laid out thinking of all the bullshit put on dark skinned femmes of color throughout our lives from colorism to sizeism to ableism and ageism. truly is a daily practice of strength to get through sometimes so when I post selfies feeling myself, it’s in absolute defiance of anyone or any system that ever dared to suggest I’m not worthy of being seen as beautiful, smart, and capable of every damn thing I wanna do. i know some of y’all feel me. 🌀💚🌀💚
