I imagine it could be quite easy to assume that someone who makes a book like Al Fresco floats through life from one beautiful picnic and meditative nature walk to another, never having to truly face the realities or challenges of real, gritty, heartrending life. Well, not so. I am tempted to write a laundry list here of all the hardships and losses and stresses I faced during the course of making this book (none of which I had any idea were coming when I took on this project), but everyone has their own personal treasure trove of hardships and sadnesses and no one needs to be further burdened with mine. Suffice it to say, this book is as much an invitation to myself as it is for you to be reminded of the immense joys and healing properties of nature —and how sharing both life’s wonders and heavinesses with others can work magic to help lighten the load. Even in the midst of ever-present and new challenges to come (impending life with a newborn and a 3-going-on-16-year-old!!), I’m hoping to bask in this timeless wisdom during the summer ahead. 🌞
