Artist and friend of the studio, Sophie Erlund @lustschloss, is opening her latest solo show @psmgallery this Saturday. ⁠ ⁠ The title 'Nature is an event that never stops' suggests that nature is a dynamic and ever-changing phenomenon that is constantly evolving and unfolding. It is a direct quote taken from biologist Merlin Sheldrake’s book 'Entangled Life', which explores the complex and interconnected system surrounding fungi and encourages a more comprehensive view of the natural world.⁠ ⁠ In her artistic practice, Sophie has explored a variety of themes and questions about the more-than-human perspective, particularly our ongoing entanglement with artificial intelligence and its impact on the psychology of the digital age.⁠ ⁠ The title piece of the exhibition, a VR film called 'Nature is an event that never stops' (2023), was developed in collaboration with the cognitive scientist Cordula Vesper of the the Experimenting Experiencing Reflecting project (EER), which Olafur and the anthropologist and cognitive scientist Prof. Andreas Roepstorff founded in 2018. EER is founded upon experimentation. The experiments examine perception, decision-making, action, notions of togetherness, collaboration, and the transmission of knowledge. ⁠ ⁠ The exhibition will be accompanied by an EER lab in the gallery’s loggia to further engage visitors in the dialogical space between art and science. The EER lab will also host workshops and interventions by scientists from the EER project.
