I can’t post that.
It’s blurry, they’ll judge my creative skill.
He’s got porridge around his face, they’ll judge my parenting.
I’m mid laugh, they’ll judge my beauty.
I’m in pyjamas at 4pm and got greasy hair, they’ll judge my dignity.
Or, I can post whatever the fuck I like and screw anyone who judges me.
To me, a photo perfect moment isn’t about catching the light just right, or a carefully curated image with the outfit, composition, setting, and make up all exactly the way you want them.
.
It’s about being able to hear a laugh when there is no sound, or feeling the warmth of a sunset when you’re on the other side of the world. It’s about feelings, and allowing for those accidental blurs, less than ideal lighting, and greasy hair and pyjamas and a porridge encrusted face. It’s about pissing about with your kid in the moment, over perfectly posing with not a limb or hair out of place.
.
It’s really easy to get wrapped up in only presenting your best stuff when it comes to the grid (and I get that, I really do, nobody wants to see 10 of the same photo) but I’m making sure I don’t discount the moments I want to remember. These photos are far from grid perfect- front facing camera, shite light and fuzzy blurs all over- but you better believe they’re finding their way onto my grid. I’m not going to let perfect moments like this go missed just because the captures have imperfections. Because there is nothing imperfect about the unbridled joy and love in them ❤️
