Happy thanksgiving y’all! Izzy was born with severe hearing loss in her right ear so yesterday she got her cochlear implant! Technology designed in Melbourne, an electrode is implanted in her cochlear and she will have an external receiver that will beam the sound right into her inner ear. She can even connect it to devices via Bluetooth and stream stuff straight into her head. Crazy stuff 😳 Many thanks to the talented team at @ucla who all took such gentle care of our Izzy. Where we would be without our medical community? ❤️ She’s doing well after the surgery but just tired and sore so she’s vegging on the couch. Once they activate it in a few weeks it’s going to be a bit of a learning curve as her brain has a huge adjustment so still a lot of work to be done but we’ll get there. So just the 4 of us for thanksgiving, turkey’s overrated 🤪 so I cooked ribeyes, pollo asada, smoked lemon pepper and garlic chicken wings, arugula salad, rosemary crispy potatoes and fajita veg with mushrooms and black garlic. Lot of food but none will go to waste as I’m the king of leftovers 😁 The last pic is when Taf came up to me asking when the Apple pie’s gonna be ready.
