Can you be addicted to food? I thought I was. A few years ago, the only vocabulary that did any justice to how I felt around food was the kind you'd use to describe addiction. I felt anxious around it, always thought about it, and struggled to stop eating it once I started, and yet at the same time, there was one thing I wanted more than anything - to lose weight. I'm re-sharing a conversation I had with @mandysaligari on the podcast today because her insights and expertise on this particular issue are so valuable. I was able to make the progress I'd always wanted with my relationship with food and managing my weight once I confronted the bigger issues I had around food. I also know that for years, since childhood when I gained weight, I'd felt deeply ashamed and embarrassed, not just about how I looked but about the horrible, self-destructive thoughts and self-sabotaging behaviours I felt powerless to overcome. So, if you feel trapped, confused, or stifled by your own thoughts, feelings and behaviours around food, I encourage you to listen to the conversation I had with Mandy and also know there are incredible resources out there like @beatedsupport and @seedsupportuk If you have any questions and don't want to comment publicly, please feel free to DM me or email me via the link in my bio. The episode is available now on all good podcast platforms. #foodaddiction #foodaddictionrecovery #eatingdisorderrecovery
