5 nights. 4 sold out shows. 1 venue (KLPAC) with a 504 capacity, 1 benefit show, 24 cohort of dancers from Sutra Outreach Programme and @sutradancetheatre , 6 musicians (geniuses really) that Sutra flew in from Orisha, India, the birthplace of Odissi, including Guru Gajendra K Panda, a longtime collaborator of Sutra, 1 mastermind and renowned guru in the world of Indian classical dance, in the iconic shape that is Datuk Ramli Ibrahim, the people behind the scene - technical, registration and usherers etc. and many many of you who came for the love of music and dance, not necessarily Odissi, but the arts in general. THANK YOU. Jaya Ram as an original piece based on the mythical Lord Rama, hero of the Ramayana, has successfully added another layer to the original narrative and repertoire of the famous tale. Since it evolved over time, this sort of modernist aesthetic is made up of many movements including bauhaus, constructivism, fantasy, and purism - brilliantly put together by Guru Gajendra and Datuk @ramliibrahimofficial to assemble a great symphony we’ve been introduced to and enthralled with, aptly titled Jaya Ram. JCPR is proud to be representing Sutra Foundation as a collaborator in particular to strategise and execute its PR master plan. Despite it all, we did it. On a personal level, I must respectfully bow to all our Media friends who have been nothing but supportive. I am not bias with my news. I believe the arts is for everyone - both fans of lowbrow and highbrow art. Its neither inferior or superior. And as such, we need to create the approachability factor and I think we have nailed it on its head. As mentioned by Jo Kukhatas tonight in an interview, “Seeing everyone being so supportive towards something like this is truly heartwarming. This is the Malaysia that I know and love.” That in itself is a major win for everyone. I shall go to sleep now. Much love. #jcprmatters
