I used to think I needed to be like "one of the guys" in my industry. It took some time for me to realize my interviews with athletes were always going to be different. As women break barriers into mostly male-dominated spaces, we have felt the need to "compete" and perhaps bring a more masculine energy. It took time for me to gain the confidence and shift back to "me" My feminine energy will almost always bring a different story, a different emotion, I hope, a different feeling to an interview. I care about cultivating TRUST, PATIENCE, and COMPASSION. I don't need to break the story, I need to get him to feel safe to open up. Men and women will always bring a different energy to their respective careers. That's why watching men and women working TOGETHER can be so dynamic.
