It’s world mental health day and I want to share with you what my journey looks like sometimes. Most of you know I have Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bones) and that brings lots of other health conditions that I deal with on a daily, I’ll share some: General body aches from scoliosis Constant headaches from hearing loss related tinnitus and hearing fatigue Jaw & face pain from a jaw bone tumor that continues to give me hell Burning sensations around the lower part of my face due to nerve damage from the jaw tumor All of this and more lead to generalized anxiety stemming from a lifetime of pain, surgeries and serious health scares. Most days my normal pain level is 5-6 and I can function with little to no issues, I won’t let it take over me unless its 10+ (us chronic pain babes are made of straight up steel) On the days I find myself overwhelmed with work, life, health, and everything in between I drop what I’m doing and I dedicate the day to ME. Now I get that sometimes we need to rest, lay down and watch a movie - while this sounds amazing, it’s what I’ve done after every fracture, surgery and hospital stay. So for me, this is not my go-to, instead I turn to beauty, makeup and the little things that make me the happiest. Sing while you drive, get yourself your favorite food and play with your favorite makeup! I promise you the power of beauty is underrated at times. This is a part of my mental health journey, beauty is my therapy, makeup is my antidote and self love is my medication. Take care of YOU first and foremost, the world can and will wait.
