🙌 🇺🇸 ❤️ The irony is that she’s on the new quarters and her Asian parents that used to disapprove of her pursuing a creative freelance path, used to own a laundromat in LA Chinatown , what an amazing full circles moment, symbolism on so many level. ❤️🪙🪙🪙🪙
To follow your dream even on the road less traveled and the road that wasn’t built for you. ( and pave the way for others. )

Today, actress Anna May Wong will become the first Asian American to appear on US currency. She will be featured on the quarter as part of a U.S. Mint program that honors the accomplishments of women throughout history from diverse backgrounds.
The daughter of Chinese immigrants, Wong became the first internationally recognized Asian American movie star. She appeared in 60 movies from 1919 to 1960 and was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. She became the first Asian American lead actor in the U.S. TV series “The Gallery of Madame Liu-Tsong." Wong was also known to be a fashion icon who cultivated the flapper look.
Her Hollywood successes still came riddled with discrimination and prejudice as she was typecasted and not selected for lead Asian roles that instead went to non-Asian actresses. This drove her to pursue acting opportunities outside of the U.S.
Wong died of a heart attack at the age of 56, and she left behind a legacy as a trailblazer in Hollywood during the Golden Age.
