Do you have trouble determining your natural curl direction when brush styling? ⤵️ If your curls go straight when when you brush style, it could be because you’re going in the wrong direction. To determine your curl direction, look closely at the first bend your curl takes. Does it spiral away from your face, or towards your face? It’s completely normal to have multiple curl directions. Sometimes you will have to brush curl clumps in opposite directions. The angle in which you hold the brush is also important. Instead of pointing the brush upwards, angle the brush downwards, and then go in the natural curl direction. If the hair doesn’t curl, go in the other direction or try a different angle. Don’t overthink it! Practice makes perfect with brush styling and you’ll eventually learn your curls. I don’t always brush in the correct direction and it turns out just fine! This is more so to help those of you who really struggle with curls straightening out when you brush style.
