Honoring our Fathers. @lfdcigars @arturofuentecigars @padroncigars are some of the most respected and personal legacies in the cigar world — father and son journeys defined by hard work, exile, resilience, and excellence in craftsmanship. Special thanks to @tobacconistofgreenwich for video clips.
The Padrón Legacy: José Orlando & Jorge Padrón
José Orlando Padrón (1926–2017): The Patriarch
• Born in Cuba, José Orlando Padrón grew up working in tobacco fields.
• After the Cuban Revolution, he went into exile and founded Padrón Cigars in Miami in 1964 with a $600 hammer and a dream.
• His first factory was in Nicaragua, where he developed the signature full-bodied, earthy flavor that became synonymous with Padrón.
• He survived political turmoil, a factory fire, and embargo-related challenges, but never compromised on quality.
“I don’t smoke just to smoke. I smoke for the flavor, the experience. That’s what a Padrón cigar is.”
— José Orlando Padrón
The Legacy of LFD Cigars: Litto & Antonio Gomez
Litto Gomez: The Architect of Power and Precision
• In 1994, he co-founded La Flor Dominicana in Santiago, Dominican Republic, with his wife Ines Lorenzo-Gomez.
• Litto became known for:
• Powerful, full-bodied cigars (like the Ligero and Double Ligero lines)
• Meticulous fermentation and fermentation room innovations
• His reputation as a perfectionist is legendary: nothing leaves the factory without his personal inspection.
“Tobacco is a living thing. You don’t control it — you understand it.”
— Litto Gomez
Arturo Fuente cigar legacy is perhaps the most emotional and iconic father-and-son story in the cigar world — a tale that spans four generations, built on survival, devotion, sacrifice, and a commitment to making “only the finest cigars.” At the heart of this legacy are Arturo Fuente, his son Carlos Fuente Sr., and grandson Carlos “Carlito” Fuente Jr. who is the visionary.
“We will never rush the hands of time.” — Carlos Fuente Sr.
Carlos Fuente Sr. was revered as a humble, faithful man who believed in integrity and people over profits.
