This tree has been woven, interlocking our past with our future and providing sustenance to our present. The arrow struck the ash tree and split it. From this split came the first people and all the animals of the land.” Trees represent the neural networks of this earth. The fungal connections bring sustenance to one another, and other species. They mirror our connections to one another, as well as within our own bodies. Trees are resilient, when a tree is cut down, the roots of the tree will continue to send nutrients to other surrounding trees. Indigenous people are resilient in this same way. We cultivate community to continue our resistance against genocide. Our culture and traditions are our resistance against colonialism. Our sheer existence is a victory against our intended extinction. We are still here, and our strength is in connection. New work.
