This job was special to me because I’ve always been inspired by Lady Gaga’s bold personality and activism. When I was a young girl, it was artists like her that made me embrace my eccentricity. I remember the first time I heard Just Dance on the radio but didn’t know who it was. I didn’t have internet or a cell phone so I went to Buckham Library to google the lyrics to find her and get her debut album. While I love the evolution of her artistry, I still stream The Fame Monster faithfully 😭❣️ Now she’s chosen me for this shoot and I also get my first campaign for a Sephora launch. We shot this in March and I was still unsure if I wanted to keep modeling full time. I didn’t have the support of my family that believed I could be successful in this industry at my size. Choosing a unique career in an African household ain’t easy, if you know you know 😂 It’s also difficult to pay for your career development if you don’t have the resources before you start working. I got signed when I was still in college and living in Minneapolis. To take this leap, I had to trust my own instincts, make a lot of sacrifices, and be patient enough to let the work come to me. When we spoke, Gaga inspired me once again to keep pushing. 🤍 Big thanks to the lovely team at Haus Labs 💓 Photographer: @domenvandevelde MUA: @sarahtannomakeup @missphuongtran @rokaelbeauty Hair: @fredericaspiras @marciahamilton @florido Fashion: @nicolaformichetti Nails: @kimmiekyees
