PERMACRISIS The first "word of the year" for 2022, chosen by Collins. It tracks for me. Maybe you, too. I've been using "Omnicrisis" recently, or, "Omniclusterfuck," because, just as one new crisis erupts (drought, stampede, plague) there's another one immediately vying for attention. In "The Age of Earthquakes" (2015) we introduced "Crisisis" to denote "Being bored of global crises." Boredom is no longer a luxury I feel I — or many of us — can afford anymore. Instead, it's a constant state of heightened anxiety and then the numbness of one's impotence in relation to that anxiety, and towards the gurning, vile, powers that facilitate "Permacrisis" as the always-new-norm. I've a new text out soon introducing "Endcore," a name I'm giving to this era after eras (thanks @geapolitik @elekitri @flashartmagazine) and be working on a 3-part season called "Lorecore" as Curator-in-Residence for @our.zora Zine (thanks @comfort_realm @guymyguy). And yes, it may be true that I suffer from Endkink, but, as Zizek always says, "Enjoy your symptom!" šŸŽ¶ Words don't come easy; but words meme what they say šŸŽ¶
