Sometimes I sit in disbelief of how far I have come. I lost my PhD mentor. I lost my first patient. I lost my father. I lost match day. I lost graduation. Yet still I stand. Willing and able. “But still, like dust, I’ll rise.” Ready for the next chapter. As I sit this week of what would have been graduation I reflect with soft sadness yet deep gratitude. I am a firm believer that we are the sum total of our life experiences and that everything happens for a reason. My sum total has led me to this MD/PhD and although it may not have played out the way I thought it would, I will be forever grateful for these 5 letters.
