Quick review of the new @necessaire sunscreen! It’s fragrance and essential oil free, and it is intended to hydrate and strengthen the skin barrier while preventing sun damage. Ingredients: 20% zinc oxide, 1% Laminaria Saccharina, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin E, Bisabolol Tint: no tint Water and sweat resistant: no Value: $35 for 1.7 oz Cast: this unfortunately leaves a slight white cast on me, and the brand is transparent about this. In a sea of brands claiming their mineral sunscreens are invisible on everybody, I do appreciate when a brand is honest that their product will likely leave a cast on some skin tones. But we have so many increasingly innovating, lightweight formulas with minimal casts or none at all, so I’m a little stumped why they would launch such a seemingly basic sunscreen. However, if you’re interested in trying this, I did find that applying it in thin layers helped to minimize the cast. Texture/finish: while this is thinner than some other classic mineral sunscreens I’ve tried, it still feels a bit tacky on the skin and has a slightly dewy finish. Overall thoughts: I really need a sunscreen to do more. I look for a formula that contains a tint (iron oxides) so I can have better protection from sun damage, and I really need a natural/satin finish in order to want to reach for it every day.
