Duke’s Boys Trip! Every other year I break off a few days to take Duke and his friends (and dads) on a boys trip! (Alternating years with my girl’s and theirs). It’s a chance to spend good 1x1 time with Duke and for him to feel like a champ. Long drives. Setup. Loading. Self-reliance. Work...mixed with CRAZY fun like only Lake Powell can deliver. I am blessed to not only have a great son, who does of course have his own challenges and hangups, but is incredibly smart, fun, kind, and talented. But he and I are also blessed with amazing friends. It’s so great to hang around not only so many young people, but at least a DOZEN solid fathers who are good examples to me and to my son, on a number of levels. Extreme environments like Lake Powell allow for extreme lessons to unfold and deep conversations to be had. Always a good time, and always exhausting.
