The rooster persevered, and we will as well!" — this is what every Ukrainian has been telling themselves day after day, trying not to lose faith in victory and to remain empathic, steadfast and resilient. In the midst of the burnt building, a lonely shelf has survived; and on it, a ceramic jug in the shape of a rooster. This story has turned into a real metaphor for the war and the rooster, together with the kitchen shelf, has become a symbol of Ukrainian resistance against Russian invaders.
