I often wonder what prompts someone to follow people they dislike - or even hate - on social media. A fair bit of that I suspect may be Schadenfreude- taking joy in someone else’s misfortunes, but since so few post about their vulnerabilities and failures, there isn’t much schadenfreude to go around. While I absolutely believe that polite disagreement can foster great conversations and learning, mudslinging does pretty much the opposite. I believe in curating my feed here on IG. I believe in following people who inspire me, or make me smile. I have no reason to even think of mean spirited comments. Since I currently follow 874 people, I can hardly list them all.
