when i was 16 i joined lifetime; and for the last 10 years in a weird way i’ve kinda grown up here. i’ve walked in and out of the doors of this club as many different people, but the person who walked in tonight is the version of myself i’ve been working towards becoming for the last decade without even realizing it.
i’ve been asked the question “why?” many times throughout the past year. why cycle? why lifetime? why teach it? if there is anything i’m sure of, it’s that the cycle class i stumbled into in 2019 changed the way i look at fitness, it changed the way i look at community, and even bigger- changed the way i look at myself.
i made a silent promise a few years ago then that somehow, one day i would make it up on the cycle stage, that i would give myself a chance to become the person i always wished i had the confidence to be, and could have even half a chance to impact a room of people the way @marissa.byrum impacted me 3 years ago. more than that, i did this in honor of the versions of myself who would have never had the courage to do what she wanted.
tonight was my official beginning as a group fitness instructor with lifetime & i can’t thank @misssammyj @marissa.byrum @jen_gordon52 & @kyrstyn_niespolo for the endless support, encouragement, & love they have given to all the versions of me that they’ve been able to impact thus far.
to some, being a group fitness instructor is just another job, it may look like just another workout, another cycle class, another gym; but this is place, these people, this community- it’s a part of me.
so to all the versions of myself who always felt too loud, too much, not enough, and out of place all at the same time: this one’s for you.
i hope i made you proud.
and to that, i’ll see you at 7:15pm on Monday nights💕💪🏽🎉🚴🏼♀️
