3 weeks ago we said goodbye to @whostommyshow. The social media, press presence and physical/mental energy required for this show was so intense for me that I’ve spent all the time since closing reconnecting to home, the outdoors, family & friends- and away from my phone at all costs. But here is a mini semblance of photos from this amazing year and process that changed my life in so many ways. From the early days in Chicago to our incredible NY run, Tommy brought me bucket list moments and incredibly meaningful connections. I have never experienced a show that has forced me to grow so much to meet its demands. I’ve grown and learned so much as a performer and person and learned how to take care of myself and others around me. The universe gifted me my wonderful partner during this process in Chicago and they have completely changed my life for the better in our first year together. This show was also an anti war and violence piece and felt meaningful to bring people together every night with this message. I also found it lovely that the casting of a mixed ethnicity Tommy allowed for the depiction of a mixed family on stage. My heart was warmed that the Walker family so closely depicted how my own family actually looks. And @adamjacobsnyc, @alisonluff, @john_ambrosino_, @bobby_conte and the whole ensemble truly acted like my family during this year and we all looked out for each other and supported each other through every high and low. I keep coming back to this art form for the community. A bit over a year ago I almost declined this audition. I think I was scared and didn’t believe I could take on such a role. But I’m so glad I said yes and allowed Tommy and all the inhabitants of Tommyland to change my life forever. It will take me years to process all of this but to everyone that came to see us, to everyone who made us art and to all who put their love and energy into this show, thank you. ❤️
