Full letter: “Hello, Hello, Hello, It is little talked about but every New Year’s Eve, the puppets of BBMT throw their own party. Happy the Birthday Dog wears the cutest “2023” glasses, the Sugar Plum Fairy waltzes until she falls over, and the Baby Seal pops at least a dozen tiny confetti cannons. What they are celebrating is their own fantasy world being allowed to flourish by your support. They are celebrating you; how in big & small ways your donation or attendance or partnership or friendship have allowed the puppets’ fantasy world and subsequently all of our worlds to be a little more filled with imagination and inspiration. 2022 has been our first full year in functional operation since the Theater’s relocation, and the pandemic. In that time we have entertained over 100,000 people, welcomed back 100’s of new and legacy school groups, toured far and wide including the historic Ford Theater & Hollyhock House and little Sally’s 3rd birthday party. We built 26 brand new marionettes, including puppets for theme parks, for an LA Times mental health awareness program, for worldwide showbiz superstars that will expose the potential of puppetry to millions. We received national art organization recognition with our first NEA award. Forest Lawn Museum mounted a 60 year retrospective exhibition and showcased the art and impact of the company that left us all humbled. We have restored and revitalized dozens of puppets and whole shows to better reflect the diverse and inclusive world around us. We have begun sensory friendly programming. We continue to invest in the wonderful artists and arts administrators in our community, for the first time ever offering benefit programs to our staff. All of this was made possible by your support.
