Sometimes things get really, really tough. Sometimes you really push to accomplish a lot & the curve balls keep coming at you. Over the last 7 days, 40 more homeless cats & kittens were either trapped & fixed or rescued. 34 strays from locations across our region won’t be breeding, they were trapped & fixed. That’s why we try to juggle, but we’ve been quietly working with a houseless woman who’s overwhelmed with cats in her tent. She picked up 2 strays & the breeding over this past year spiraled out of control. She’s handed many out to strangers, several died because she couldn’t access veterinary care. She’s managing to take care of of herself but an army of cats & kittens is something that’s incredibly difficult for every the best of us to manage. We’re not sharing her identity not because she didn’t want her story told, but because of negative, hurtful remarks we receive every time we collaborate with our houseless neighbors. This woman lives in East Hollywood, she’s managing just fine but wants the cats & kitten to be safe. She explained the anxiety of caring for so many isn’t healthy. She cares about their welfare, just like we do & she acknowledges her tent is not safe for them. Helping this woman in need on top of several litters of kittens who are too tiny & sick to be fixed & returned means we need fosters badly. The Thanksgiving holiday coming up means we’re losing foster’s when we need them the most. Many of the friendly adult cats & older kittens rescued from this woman’s tent are plug & play perfect, they’ve been fixed, fully vaccinated & they’re total lap cats, they just need a safe place where they can land & snag some love. Our critical care foster’s are packed, so our immediate need is for folks who can work with a mildly spicy kitten, a slam dunk adult cat, a pair of cuddle kittens so our existing fosters can swap & we can rotate kitties to ensure all these little loves get the care they need.
