Photographer Santiago Schicke / @santiagofrancoschicke / has lived in London since 2019 - "I enjoy it here, it is a safe space for me and I have found some stability" - but despite being a long way from home, still finds their upbringing in South America seeping into life and work. ⁠ ⁠ "I was born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay, a very quiet city. While it is the capital, being such a small city, it made me appreciate human interaction even more. In small cities you are constantly sharing and meeting people, interacting and commuting. I am a people person and I think it's mostly because I grew up in an environment that is all about family and friends, or being kind to strangers."⁠ ⁠ "Being in London makes you appreciate smaller places even more. Walking distance is not a thing, and small talk often feels empty. I like to think I am able to create a friendly and kind environment on all of my shoots, and I can definitely see Uruguay in that.
