I owed you the BTS on this cover for a while now. I definitely had to do some extra thinking to make the visuals work properly for sure (I’ll spare you the puzzle jokes). Showing some close-ups so you can see Jim and Scott’s glorious line work and how I build out of the black and white to the final. I do all the coloring in one layer and then add effects like smoke, city lights and glows. For this particular cover I also did the puzzle piece rendering on layers above the colors and inks.
