Connect the dots. People who are invested in dehumanizing and disenfranchising others aren’t “just joking.” Bigots are actually quite serious about getting people to see other communities as dangerous, less than human, inferior or fundamentally broken in one way or another. They do this to stoke fear and maintain control to advance an agenda that dismantles our educational systems, our elections, our economic rights, and our social fabric. Because the more they can get us to fear each other, the less likely we are to come together and organize for the interests and protection of all people. . We don’t have to live this way. Reject hate, resist fear, be brave and stand up for someone you don’t know.
